Makeup artists you need to know about…
I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside some of the best Asian bridal makeup artists in the UK. In fact, it makes my job as a photographer much easier! When the bride has a top makeup artist with excellent skill, I know they will look great in front of the camera!
From talking to many brides, I’ve discovered that their choice of makeup artist is one of the most important decisions for their wedding. In particular, the makeup artists I’ve worked with below have all been great on the wedding day. Furthermore, the looks they have produced have been stunning! If you are still deciding on your makeup artist, look no further!
Below is a list of the best Asian bridal makeup artists I’ve worked with. You can click on their names to see their Instagram portfolio. I’ve also described my experience of working with these talented ladies below each heading, with links to the particular brides they have worked on.
Gini Bhogal
Working with Gini has always been a pleasure. She creates beautiful looks and was behind the makeup for Dee at her wedding. Additionally, she is kind, patient and very experienced, having been a part of the industry since 1994. When I’ve worked with Gini, she always produces luxurious looking brides!
Ambreen MUA
Ambreen has been in the wedding industry for more than 10 years. Moreover, she has built up a strong reputation for the finest makeup skills. To sum up, her brides always look effortlessly beautiful. She worked on my stunning brides Alisha, Samra and Gurjeet.
Suky Gill MUA
Working with Suky has always been a great experience. In fact, I was lucky enough to spend a week working alongside Suky in Goa, India for a destination wedding. She also has her own app dedicated to finding in-demand makeup artists! Suky is incredibly friendly and the brides have always commented on how easy she is to get on with. She worked on the gorgeous Bal whose wedding you can find here, and also the beautiful Chandni.
Melly Sophia MUA
The brides that Melly has worked on have always looked incredible. She has a huge following on Instagram and it isn’t hard to see why. In short, with her incredible skill, the looks she produces are sophisticated and elegant. She worked on my bride Sriya whose wedding you can find here. As well as another one of my stunning bride’s Sehrish.
Priti Kanna Bassi or PKB
Whenever I’ve worked with Priti, she has exuded friendliness! Furthermore, she has such a positive and vibrant personality. Brides are so relaxed whenever Priti is working on their makeup. In turn, she also relaxes me! In essence, her brides are always beautiful!
Patti Panue MUA
Patti Panue is one of the most sought after makeup artists. Not surprisingly, since she has 30 years experience! She is internationally acclaimed and her brides look amazing. Patti worked with my incredible bride Ikki on her wedding, as well as the stunning Sabrina.
These expert Asian bridal makeup artists get booked up quickly. In addition, a good MUA can get booked up to 12 months or more in advance. So don’t hesitate to get in touch with them!
Remember, these are just my opinions. It’s important to do your own research, which I’m sure you will! Check their portfolio carefully, work experience and reviews. Ask married friends about their own experiences with makeup artists.
BONUS tips for choosing the best Asian bridal makeup artist…
Identify their style
Once you have a list of Asian bridal makeup artists you want to choose from, do a little research. Take a look at their social media handles and portfolios. What is their makeup style like? Most importantly, does it match with yours? Certain makeup artists have a particular style of makeup. Some tend to have a bolder signature look, while others like to keep it more soft or neutral. Considering what you want for your big day, compare your makeup artist’s style preferences with your own. It will be much safer if you’re both on the same page!
Consider their product collection
Some makeup artists mention their products on their social media handles and online portfolios. If you’re personally visiting their salon, you might get to take a look at their collection directly. If you do, it’s much easier for you to see what kind of makeup they use. Is it high-end or more widely available, and which do you prefer? Does their collection look appealing to you? The answers to these questions will help you choose the artist you like best.
Take a look at their offered services
Differentiate between different makeup artists based on what they are offering. Some offer to do hair as well, while others don’t. Certain makeup artists also entertain skincare services along with makeup. It can be useful if you can get more done at the same time.
Don’t forget about hygiene!
This one is probably the most overlooked point, but it is among the most important. Whether you are looking at an artist’s online portfolios, checking their reviews, or visiting their salon in person, take a good look at the cleanliness of the place. Do the brushes look clean? Is the environment neat and fresh? What do the makeup products look like? In essence, it will give you a much better idea of how careful the artist is about not putting germs on your face!
See what their personality is like
Are they friendly? Are they a professional? Do you like the way they communicate? In general you must be comfortable with your makeup artist. Likewise, if you two don’t get along, it will be much harder to work together on your wedding day.A good vibe between you will really help you have the best wedding day possible! Especially as you will be spending so much time (and money) with them!
Keep your budget in mind
Don’t forget to keep one eye on your purse. In fact, try to look for makeup artists that fit your budget in the first place. This way, you can find the best services and not worry about overspending. In brief, some makeup artists will be more expensive, considering how long they have been in the industry, or how well they have established themselves. Of course the most popular Asian bridal makeup artists won’t be cheap!
Ask a friend?
If a friend of yours is a makeup artist, give them some leverage and lean towards them. There are several reasons why you could do this. One, they are your friend so you will be comfortable with them. Two, they understand you better since they already know you and your style. Three, you will be able to communicate with them very frankly; tell them what you like and what you don’t, so everything can be precisely how you want it. Four, you will be helping a friend grow their business!
